[origin: EP0985898A2] A dual charge gun barrel has the charge chamber split into two sections (4,5) by a stepped or sloping profile (8) to take two different sizes of charge and the same size caliber (3) of projectile. The rear chamber (5) is wider and connects to the narrower chamber (4) by a sloping profile (8). When the smaller diameter charge is used an adapter is fitted into the wider charge chamber to position the firing pin onto the rear of the charge. The adapter has spring loaded claws which grip the rear lip of the charge.
