Abstract (en)
[origin: DE19814609A1] The invention relates to a wiper blade provided for cleaning motor vehicle windows. The wiper blade comprises an elastic support element (30) which longitudinally extends in the shape of a band. A device (32) for connecting a wiper arm (34) which is driven in an oscillating manner is arranged on the one band surface of the support element, said surface facing away from the window (24). A longitudinally extended, rubber elastic wiper blade strip (17) which can be placed on the window (24) is situated on the other band surface of the support element, said surface facing away from the window, in such a way that it is parallel to the longitudinal axis. During operation, the wiper arm displaces the wiper blade in a transversal manner in relation to the longitudinal extension thereof. The support element moves in a plane which is essentially parallel to the window surface. The invention provides that the wiper lip belonging to the wiper blade strip reliably and quietly moves from one carried position thereof to another carried position thereof. This is achieved when, in each of both oscillating directions (12, 16), when viewed vertically in relation to the window, a straight line (38) which passes through the longitudinal center of both wiper blade ends lies behind the center (40) of the point of connection between the wiper arm (34) and the wiper blade (10) in the respective wiping direction.
