[origin: WO9855574A1] The invention relates to the use of organic acids, especially citric acid, added separately or at a later stage, to help remove bleachable stains on textiles if the detergent used is essentially free of bleaching agents. To this end, granular detergents are used which have an apparent density of between 650 g/l and 1100 g/l, contain anionic and/or nonionic tensides as well as builders, and between 1 and 15 weight percent of an organic acid which is added separately or at later stage, said detergents being essentially free of bleaching agents. The advantages of such detergents are especially evident when said detergents are used for machine washing at temperatures of up to 60 DEG C and in particular at temperatures as low as 30 DEG C to 40 DEG C.
