[origin: WO9855726A1] The aim of the invention is to provide an improved barrier device for preventing passage which has a simple construction and which can be lowered less deeply. To this end, a barrier device for preventing passage, especially a gate for preventing passage to and from buildings or land comprises a moveable support device (1, 2, 3) for supporting a telescopic barrier device (4) and a movement device for moving said support device (1, 2, 3) between a closed position and an open position of said telescopic barrier device (4). The telescopic barrier device (4) is shortened during the movement from the closed position to the open position with the help of a counter-force which can be applied by a lowered base (5a), and extended in the opposite direction during the movement from the open position to the closed position, with the help of the force of gravity.
