[origin: WO9854575A2] The present invention is directed to a method for assessing the healing status of a wound in a mammal, which method comprises measuring the amount of at least one lymphocyte cell membrane antigen present in a sample of body fluid or tissue. It has been found that the ratio of T-lymphocyte antigens CD4 and CD8 vary depending on the healing status of a wound. Assessment of the healing status assists in identifying the correct treatment to promote healing.
