Abstract (en)
[origin: DE19717179A1] The invention relates to the use of compounds of formula (I) R<1>aRebOc.Ld, as catalysts in the selective oxidation of olefins into corresponding carboxylic acids with C=C bond scission in the presence of a compound containing peroxide and a Brönsted acid, whereby the amount of substance ratio between the olefin double bond and the Brönsted acid is at least 1 : 4, and wherein a = 0 or a whole number from 0 to 6; b = a whole number from 1 to 4; c = a whole number from 1 to 12; d = a whole number from 0 to 4; L = Lewis base, and the sum of a, b and c is such that it corresponds to the pentavalence or septivalence of the rhenium, with the proviso that c is not bigger than 3.b and wherein R<1> is non-existent, the same or different, and represents an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical with 1 to 10 C atoms, an aromatic hydrocarbon radical with 6 to 10 C atoms, or an arylalkyl radical with 7 to 9 C atoms, wherein the independent, same or different radicals R<1> can be optionally substituted.
