Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19724475A1] The invention relates to a drive device in the form of a direct drive for a cantilevered washing drum, which device is designed especially with a view to providing effective cooling of the stator coils by the surrounding air so that the flat, slowly rotating engine does not overheat when operated correctly while conforming to the required dimensions. The invention also aims to make it possible for the engine to be fully pre-assembled at the production plant. To this end, the frame (10) of the engine (9) is connected to the rigid support part or, instead of to said rigid support part, to the back wall (6) of the lye container (1). Said engine comprises a central bearing bush (26) for the shaft (7) of the washing drum (4) and for a rotor (13) hub (31) enclosing the shaft. The hub (31) of the rotor (13), which has a plurality of openings (33) between its hub and peripheral part and a bell-shaped flange (15) facing the lye container (1) on its circumference, is attached to the outer end of the shaft in a centred manner. The rotor consists entirely of magnetizable steel. The bell-shaped flange of the rotor is arranged externally opposite the sheet-metal laminations (32) distributed on the frame (10) for receiving exciting coils (12) of said frame (10) and separated from said laminations by an air gap (14).
