Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19724930A1] The invention relates to a drive device in the form of a direct drive for a horizontally positioned washing drum, which device is designed especially with a view to low-cost production and to make it possible for the engine to be fully pre-assembled in the manufacturing plant and for the frame to replace the usual supporting star for the lye container. To this end the frame (10) of the engine (9) is connected to the bottom wall (6) of the lye container (1) instead of the rigid supporting part. Said engine also has a central bearing bush (23) having one or two roller bearings (21 and 22), kept at a distance to each other for the shaft (20) of the rotor (13), which at the end (cone 19) facing the washing drum (4) has a concentric hole (28) extending approximately as far as the middle of the roller bearing (22) on the drum side for receiving the shaft (7) of the washing drum (4). The rotor (13) has a bell (18) attached to the outer end of its shaft (20), the edge (15) of which bell points towards the lye container (1). A number of exciting coils (12) are distributed in a circle on the frame (10), which are arranged opposite magnetizable poles (14) distributed around the inner circumference of the bell edge (15) and separated from same by an air gap.
