Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19816508A1] Contact fingers (2) are connected to a first electric terminal by flexible ribbons (6) consisting of superposed strips of e.g., copper in order to create a large burn-off reserve. The connection section (7) of the ribbon (6) which adjoins and is rigidly connected to the contact fingers (2) is stiffened in each case by pressure-bonding the strips. When deactivated, the ribbons (6) and in part, the contact fingers (2) lie adjacent to an outwardly-pointing support surface (10). When activated, at least the contact fingers (2) and connecting sections (7) are raised off of the support surface (10) as the ribbons (6) bend, through contact with the outer surface of a contact pin which moves along an operating axis (1). The pressure force caused by the electromagnetic attraction between the relatively short contact fingers (2) and connecting sections (7), which each form an angle of approximately 30 DEG with the operating axis (1), roughly compensates for the contact repulsion whilst the forces which act on the flexible parts of the ribbons (6) are essentially collected by the support surface (10).
