Abstract (en)
[origin: DE19726570C1] The invention relates to an antenna for radiotelephones comprising a flexible cable (5), the length of which is such that the area having the greatest field strength (11) is at least 30 cm away from the radiotelephone (1). The cable of choice is a coaxial cable, the outer conductor (10) of which is a mesh wire which at its distal end (11) is turned up by about a quarter of the wave length and the inner conductor (7) of which protrudes by about a quarter of the wave length from the turned-up end (11) of the outer conductor (10). In this way a dipole antenna is created and the turned-up area (10) of the outer conductor forms a balun. The area of greatest field strength is thus sufficiently far removed from the head of the user, so that the risk of (long-term) damage to cells in the region of the user's head, especially of brain and auditory cells, is significantly reduced.
