[origin: EP0992357A1] Several individually settable type carriers carrying printing type (22) are arranged adjacent to one another in a case (10). At least one spacing member (80) is provided between adjacent type carriers. The spacing member can be moved between a first position, in which it is not positioned between type carriers, and a second position, in which it is positioned between the type carriers. The spacing member is pivotably attached to a rotatable shaft (82). A method of manufacturing the printing mechanism is also claimed.
