Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19837760A1] The apparatus to wind a web into a roll, such as of paper, has two carrier rollers forming a winding bed for the roll. A compressed air support system has a pressure chamber assembly with end side seals. At least one end side seal has a sealing partition assembly (12') which works with the circumference of the wound roll. The sealing partition assembly (12') and at least one carrier roller (2,3) have a height adjustment in relation to each other. A seal partition (16') can have a variable shape, and an adjustable width and the gap can be set between the ends and the center. The sealing partition (16') shape is changed as a function of the height setting. The sealing partition can be composed of a number of segments, with relative movements between them in a sliding or swing action. Each segment is moved against a lifter (26) in an initial guide (27,28) and against a fixed holder (25) in a second guide (29,30). At least one of the two guides (27,28;29,30) is a linear guide. Two segments of the sealing partition are swing levers, each extending from one carrier roller (2) to the other roller (3), with a fixed swing axis at one end. The sealing partition assembly is mounted at one end wall (8) of the pressure chamber structure, and the end wall (8) moves parallel to the carrier rollers (2,3). The sealing partition assembly (12') has a fine adjustment system with a drive (14) and a sensor (17') for the position of the wound roll.
