A rotor for open end spinning has a fiber impact surface (113) less than 7 mm wide, preferably between 2.2 and 4.2 mm wide. The fiber collecting groove (112) is less than 35 mm diameter, preferably less than 27.5 mm and the diameter of the opening (111) is at least 84% that of the collecting groove (112).
