The absorbent core has a front portion, a central portion and a rear portion, and comprises a longitudinally oriented ridge in the central and rear portion having a profile that provides for an increased body fit. The article is intended for direct attachment to the skin of the wearer and comprises an adhesive on the body facing surface.
