[origin: DE19727812A1] The invention relates to a training apparatus with a base unit (12) and movable foot plates (16a, 16b) arranged thereon to accommodate the feet of a user. A support unit (25) is provided for the upper extremities of the head area of the user. The foot plates (16a, 16b) are connected to the support unit (25) by means of a gear mechanism. When the foot plates (16a, 16b) move in an opposite direction within a specific plane, the support unit (25) automatically rotates (31) around an axis (24) running at a substantial right angle to said plane.
