Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19728661A1] A device for cooling, drying and granulating molten strings (2) of thermoplastic materials exiting from nozzles has at its top end an inclined discharge gutter (3) arranged below the nozzles, means for generating a cooling liquid flow on the discharge gutter (3), a granulator (12) with a pair of inlet rollers (10, 11) arranged after the discharge gutter and a transport section (7) arranged before the granulator. The transport section (7) has at its beginning a pair or transport rollers (8, 9) that take hold of the supplied strings. Both the pair of transport rollers and the pair of inlet rollers (10, 11) are staggered with their roller slit from the transport section (7) in such a manner that when the strings (2) are grasped by the pair of inlet rollers (10, 11) and pulled more strongly by the pair of inlet rollers (10, 11) than by the pair of transport rollers (8, 9), the strings (2) are lifted off the transport section (7) during their transport.
