[origin: WO9927475A1] The system and method for collecting payments for services on the internet according to the figure. A user is provided with electronic tokens or stamps, against a payment by a third party. When a service is requested by the user, a token monitoring unit (14) determines if enough tokens are available to pay for the service, if so, the service is performed. The status of the tokens used is then changed to "used" in the third party's token database. This trusted third party's tokens are used as a unit of exchange.
