[origin: WO9928851A1] Techniques are provided for writing to a track on a magnetic stripe card using position information derived from reading other tracks. A magnetic stripe encoder is provided for writing to track II (24) using positional information read from track I (2). In accordance with a further aspect of the present invention, track III (27) is used to cancel out crosstalk arising during writing of track II (24).
