[origin: DE19832712A1] The voltage regulator has a transformer (4) with a number of voltage tap-off connections (5.1,...5.12) on both the primary and secondary sides (5,6). Controlled logic connection of the tap-off connections are provided to achieve a transformer windings ratio corresponding to the required AC output voltage. The tap-off connections may be coupled in a serial or parallel configuration on the primary and secondary side of the transformer under control of a microprocessor control circuit (1), a driver circuit (2) and a switching logic (3).
