[origin: EP0995866A2] The mortise lock, with an operating rod link to other lock units, has at least one spring bolt (27) which is moved outwards by a spring (41). It is moved by a locking unit (33) into an initial projected position where only the section (A) with the end chamfer (28) of the spring bolt head extends beyond the lock plate (1), to be held by the released locking unit (33). The spring bolt (27) can be extended into a second position which brings the body section (B) of the spring bolt (27) through the lock plate (1). The locking unit (33) is released by the retraction of the spring bolt.
