[origin: WO9904149A1] An actuator for mechanical or electrical actuation of a butterfly valve is able to move between fixed positions, and to move a butterfly between fixed end stops whilst accommodating tolerances. The actuator includes a compressible link (18, 21, 27) and levers (15, 19, 23) arranged to give positive travel insensitive movement of the butterfly (14).
