Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0997085A2] The mold block (1) is rectangular and has a row of blind bores (2) in one side to accommodate the casings (5) of the pencils. The bores have a cylindrical portion near the surface of the block which slopes slightly downwards from the horizontal, and there is a shoulder (3) followed by a tapered portion (7). Narrow pressure relief bores (10) extend from the ends of the blind bores to the top surface. They lie at approximately 90 degrees to the blind bores. Pencil casings are inserted in the bores and hot liquid material is poured in and allowed to harden, and the completed pencil is then removed.
