[origin: EP0997566A2] The latch needle (10) is for machines for the production of knitted fabrics. The fabrics are especially for interior linings in cars. It has a needle shank (12), a needle butt (14), a needle head (16) and a needle latch (18). The needle features several projections (20) on the underside of the needle shank. These projections are separated from each other by hollow spaces or dents and some or all of their ends (24) directed upwards towards the latch are bevelled.
