[origin: DE19849594C1] A washing machine or tumble drier comprises a container (1) with a drum (2) which rotates about a horizontal axis, a drive motor (3) whose rotor is connected to a drum drive shaft, and a system for balancing the drum. The latter consists of a circular section (4) which is concentric to the drum rotational axis and has at least two weights inside, which can move freely. The circular section is located on the drive motor rotor.
