Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0997852A1] The postal item is moved past two rows of print heads transverse to the direction of movement of the passing item. Critical data (502,522) (value, authentication code and date) are printed in heavier characters than other data, which is printed with some of the ink jets closed. Ink jets near the ends of the two rows forming the print head are closed selectively to prevent printing overlap.
