Abstract (en)

The system enables monitoring of errors and hence location of faults on network. The system provides surveillance of the loss of data packets on a network (10) which is carrying digital information in asynchronous transfer mode. When the loss of a packet is detected in at least one node (12,14,16,18,20,22) of the network, a signaling packet is generated for each lost packet. This signaling packet is transmitted using the same data channels as those used by the lost packet. The signaling packet comprises an indicator signaling its nature and the nature of the lost data packet, within its header. The system limits the additional data which is transmitted, in order to measure the rate of data packet loss occurring.

L'invention est relative à un procédé pour surveiller les pertes de paquet dans un réseau (10) de transport d'informations numériques transmises en mode de transfert asynchrone. Lorsqu'une perte de paquet est détectée dans au moins un noeud (12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22) du réseau (10) : on engendre, pour chaque paquet perdu, un paquet de signalisation de perte de paquet, et on achemine ce paquet de signalisation en utilisant les mêmes données d'acheminement que celles du paquet perdu. L'invention limite les données additionnelles à transmettre pour mesurer le taux de pertes de paquet. Elle permet la localisation des défauts. <IMAGE>
