[origin: FR2766483A1] The invention concerns novel N-alkyl-hydroxybenzylamines of formula (I) in which: R1 and R2, which are identical or different, represent a hydrogen atom or a monohydroxylated or polyhydroxylated C1-C8 alkyl radical, provided that R1 and R2 do not simultaneously represent each a hydrogen atom; Q represent a -OH or -NH2 radical; Z represents a hydrogen atom or the group (a) in which R1 and R2 have the same definitions as above and Y1 and Y2 represent a hydrogen atom or the radical -OH, provided that Y1 and Y2 do not simultaneously represent each a hydrogen atom. The invention is useful for treating metal surfaces both against corrosion and for improving subsequent paint adherence.
