[origin: DE19730867A1] The invention relates to a method for producing monoalkyl metal complexes chelated with bidentate ligands, by reacting a transition-metal compound of general formula M(X)k (I) with a bidentate ligand in a polar protic solvent, in the presence of an alkaline, alkaline earth or ammonium halide or in the presence of benzonitrile, replacing said polar protic solvent with a non-coordinating polar aprotic solvent, and adding a tetraorgano tin compound to the resulting mixture.
