Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19734311A1] The invention concerns a device for transferring optical signals, comprising a transmission channel mounted between at least one transmitter and at least one receiver, said transmission channel including a main transmission line and a replacement transmission line which, in case the main transmission line breaks down, automatically takes over the transmission of the optical signals, and said optical signals being simultaneously injected into the main transmission line and the replacement transmission line. The invention is characterised in that the main transmission line (16) and the replacement transmission line (18) are so designed that an injected optical signal, when it is transmitted through the main transmission line (16) reaches the receiver at a definitely higher level than when it is transmitted through the replacement transmission line (18), a take-over of the optical signal at receiver level (14) being controlled by an automatic level-adjusting device (28) of the receiver (14).
