Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9965750A1] The invention relates to a running gear for rail vehicles, comprising a frame (1, 2, 3) with four individual wheels (8) which are mounted such that they are able to rotate about horizontal axles (7), one pair of wheels (8, 8) being driven. The aim of the invention is to provide a running gear which with minimal wear, high safety and little constructional complexity is able to drive on tightly curved tracks and can achieve higher speeds on straight tracks. To this end the driven pair of wheels (8, 8) can be guided radially in relation to the curve about a common vertical axis (18) in accordance with a specified value determined by a sensor system, while the non-driven individual wheels (8, 8) are mounted such that they are able to pivot as a self-regulating individual wheel module about their own vertical axis (14, 14) and are coupled together in a synchronized and steering manner by means of a steering device (15, 16).
