Abstract (en)

[origin: FR2780464A1] The clutch comprises flywheel (11), with linked cover (15), friction disk (12) with friction liner (13) acted on by pressure plate (14) to impart output rotation to the drive shaft (27). The diaphragm arms (16) act on the plate (14) to cause clutch engagement. A mechanical screw compensator (18) adjusts for width change in the lining (13) due to wear or heat. For disengagement the rod (40) is moved causing the piston (31) in the cylinder (30) to produce fluid flow through pipe (43) connection to the diaphragm actuator (20), with piston (21) causing arm (15) movement to the disengaged position and releasing the pressure plate. On release of the rod (40) the piston (21) retracts under the force of the spring (23) to a new position set by the compensator (18) to allow for width change in the liner (13). The piston (31) fully retracts under the force of spring (33). Fluid make-up from the reservoir (41) is ensured via the non-return valve (50) to the cylinder (30). Further actuation of the rod (40) for clutch disengagement produces diagram actuation from the newly adjusted stop position, thereby avoiding play in the rod before clutch disengagement. Hydraulic or electric versions of the actuator may be provided.
