[origin: DE19735598A1] The machine for producing ice splinters comprises a cylindrical vaporising roller (1) with a gear mechanism and an electric drive, an electrically driven cooling unit which supplies cooling agent to the roller, a vaporising bath (2) which can be filled with water. There is an apparatus for separating the ice from the mantle surface of the roller. The roller and the cooling unit are electrically controlled. A sensor is used to monitor the ice production and the water level in the bath.
