[origin: WO9909470A1] A method and system (2) for performing banking transaction and obtaining information about banking products and services. The system (2) includes features for performing banking transactions. The transaction functions include services such as applying for and receiving checks (13), bankcards (14), opening accounts (15), applying for loans (20), and accessing the Internet (23). The system (2) also includes information functions which permit the user to gain information on savings accounts (19), loans (20), home banking (21) travel related services (22), and retrieve information from the Internet. The system (2) also provides a demonstration (24) of the various bank products and services. The system (2) allows these functions to be performed by customers and non-customers in a 24-hour or extended operating hours environment without the need for interaction with or assistance from a customer service representative or local bank staff member.
