The shock absorber comprises one or more hollow end caps or rings (4,7) covering at least part of the container (1,2) and forming closed chambers filled with elementary components (6) with at least three axes of symmetry, and with a symmetry of rotation of at least 3. The elementary components have a center of symmetry where the axes of symmetry meet and are in the shape of spheres or regular polyhedrons, preferably cubes. They are preferably hollow with a constant wall thickness, are made from a metal, preferably steel, aluminum, copper or alloys of these, and have a mean diameter of 20-80 mm.
