Abstract (en)
[origin: DE19736372A1] The device chills a freezer bag (2) between two plates (3, 4) of steel or copper with high heat capacity. A pneumatic cylinder (5) is connected to the top plate (3) by a piston rod (6) to press the top plate against the freezer bag with great force. The plates are chilled in a liquid nitrogen current or by pipes (7) running through the plates feeding liquid nitrogen. Heat transmission within the pipes is increased by coating the pipes' inner surface with a microporous film (8).
