[origin: EP1005928A2] Chain traction unit has hydraulic clamping device pistons (13) integrated in a guide rail (12), part of which forms one of the pressure application roller support tracks (9, 10). A chain traction unit has cooperating pulling tool segments which are advanced synchronously on two endless pulling chains and pressed onto the workpiece by rollers rolling on support tracks and supported by hydraulic clamping devices on the support tracks. One of the support tracks (9, 10) forms part of a guide rail (12) in which the hydraulic pistons (13) of the clamping devices are integrated so their active front faces act on the slightly deformable support track (10) at the opposite side to the rollers (8).
