Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1006285A1] The automatic play adjuster for a motor vehicle parking brake has a lever acting on a pivoting yoke (4) on which one end of a tie rod (2) is articulated. In its external surface the tie rod comprises a stack of truncated projections forming successive stop notches (14). A compensator (7) fastened to the traction cable is able to act on the brake drum or disc and a compression spring (13) supported on an adjustable stop (11,12) is immobilized on the tie rod end (10) opposite the yoke. The compensator is applied against a nut (16) having a stack of internal truncated parts (15). The nut is split in two parts which are assembled together by an annular beading (19) enabling a resilient displacement of the these two parts so as to allow passage of the nut truncated parts onto one or more consecutive stop notches of the tie rod, as a result of a constant pressure force exerted on the nut by the compression spring.
