Abstract (en)
A photosensitive silver halide emulsion has been disclosed, containing tabular silver halide grains present in a numerical amount of at least 50 %, said tabular grains having an average aspect ratio of at least 1.2, an average equivalent circular grain diameter of at least 0.1 mu m and an average grain thickness of less than 0.3 mu m, characterized in that said grains further include an organic hole trapping dopant. In a particular embodiment said photosensitive silver halide emulsion is containing tabular silver halide grains having a core and an outermost shell, wherein said outermost shell of the grains includes an organic hole trapping dopant satisfying formula (I): <CHEM> wherein X and Y each independently represent O, S or Se; R<1> and R<2> each independently represents and R represents hydrogen, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl, a substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl a substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl; wherein R<1> and R<2> can be the same or different and may form a ring; E represents a group linked to the carbon atom by a heteroatom, having at least one free electron pair; M<+> is a proton or an inorganic or organic counterion; m and n each represents an integer wherein m equals 1 and n equals 1 or 2.
