Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9845041A1] A device is disclosed for picking up and distributing laboratory objects (1) with at least in part a hollow cylindrical contour, such as pipette tips, test tubes, reagent vessels or cells. The device has a plate-like body (3, 26, 63) with pick-up devices (5) arranged and designed in such a manner that they can pick up objects (1) arranged on a first carrier (31) in a standard pattern of high packing density with their openings (2) upwards and transfer them to another carrier (31). An actuating plate (15, 20, 27, 47, 56, 64) extends over the area of the pick-up devices (5), parallel to the plate-like body (3, 26), and can be moved relative to the plate-like body (3, 26) by means of an actuating device (10, 10', 10''), so that the pick-up devices (5) can be brought into three states of operation (6, 7, 7'). In a first state of operation (7), they can pick up the objects (1), in a second state of operation (6) they can clamp the objects (1) and in a third state of operation (7') they can release the objects (1).
