[origin: WO9833811A1] The invention provides an isolated peptide comprising an amino acid sequence of formula (I): A1-Xaa-Gly-A4-A5-Gly-A7-Xaa-Gly, wherein A1 represents an amino acid residue with an aromatic or aliphatic side chain, A4 represents an asparagine or arginine residue or an amino acid residue with an aromatic or aliphatic side chain, A5 represents any naturally occurring amino acid, A7 represents an amino acid with a negatively charged residue, Xaa represents any amino acid residue, and Gly represents a glycine residue; and the use of such peptides in medical therapy, particularly in the treatment of autoimmune conditions such as rheumotoid arthritis.
