Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9731261A1] An apparatus for measuring the content of a predetermined substance in a fluid is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a porous reactive mass (1) that gradually changes colour as it reacts chemically with the substance depending on the volume of fluid passing through the mass, a hollow tube (2) open at both longitudinal ends and containing said mass, a graduation (3) on the longitudinal portion of the tube containing the reactive mass, said graduation being calibrated according to a predetermined volume of fluid passing through the mass, and a heat-sensitive indicator (8) for indicating when the reactive mass has reached a critical heating temperature corresponding to the passage through the mass of a fluid volume equal to the calibrated volume. The apparatus is particularly useful as a breath analyser or for measuring air pollution levels.
