Each portion into which the printed matter has been divided includes at least one perforated pack edge (20) and a coating fluid proof against water, steam and oil is then applied to the edge. This coated edge is then dried once so as to allow the coating to diffuse into the abutted edges (18). The edge is preferably perforated in the printing machine and is then coated in water-, steam- and oil proof fluid at least once and is then allowed to dry so the fluid diffuses into the abutting edges. The printed matter can be perforated right through or only part of the way through. Preferred coating fluid is dispersion varnish and/or radiation-hardening varnish.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Beschichten eines Bedruckstoffes in einer Druckmaschine. Es ist Aufgabe der Erfindung ein Verfahren der eingangs genannten Art zu schaffen, das ein universelleres Beschichten von Bedruckstoffen gestattet. Gelöst wird dies dadurch, indem der in Nutzen 17 aufgeteilte Bedruckstoff 16 pro Nutzen 17 zumindest eine perforierte Stoßkante 18 einer Verpackung aufweist. Anschließend wird zumindest auf die Stoßkanten 18 eine Beschichtung aus einem wasserdichten, ölbeständigen Beschichtungsfluid zumindest einfach aufgetragen, danach wird der Bedruckstoff 16 mindestens einmal getrocknet, wobei die Beschichtung zumindest in die perforierten Stoßkanten 18 eindiffundiert. <IMAGE>
