[origin: EP1008960A2] The device is woken from standby by reception of a wake-up signal, and receives data signals from a remote transmitter in accordance with a predetermined protocol. The device is capable of using at least two different protocols (A,B). A decision unit (7) selects the protocol to use at a given moment based on the signal received from the transmitter. A signal processing circuit is included which is only supplied with power when the device in its operating state.
