[origin: WO9815379A1] In the machine and process according to the invention a metal tube (H) to be cut is caused to translate axially along a rectilinear path. The cutting of the tube (H) into lengths is effected by means of one or more plasma torches (180) which are moved in a helical motion concentric with the axis of the tube (H) at a speed having an axial component equal to the speed of translation of the tube.
