[origin: DE19706130C1] The sheet transport device has a frame with 2 sheet transport paths (14,20) extending at an angle to one another, coupled via a switching device providing respective coupling paths (40,44) for transferring the sheets from one transport path to the other in either direction. The switching device uses a rail element (34) extending across the width of the transport paths, displaced between 2 alternate positions in each of which one coupling path is open and the other coupling path is closed. A switching member (36) is displaced via an electromagnet (70) driven toothed wheel (60).
