Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9915830A1] The invention relates to an oven (10) for carbonising solid materials, for example waste, comprising an oven housing (11), a processing chamber (12) containing a conveying device (14) for conveying the solid materials, and a combustion chamber (63) to which carbonisation gases from the processing chamber (12) are fed and which opens into to a whirl chamber arrangement (51). The combustion gases are guided in counter-current in said whirl chamber arrangement (51), which is provided with an outer space (54) and an inner space (55), said spaces being separate from one another. The whirl chamber arrangement (51) is also configured with an approximately oval or elliptic cross-section, extends across a small area of the longitudinal extension of the combustion chamber (12) and is connected in terms of the stream to a flat chamber (21). Said flat chamber has an approximately rectangular longitudinal cross-section and extends across the other larger area of the longitudinal extension of the combustion chamber (12). The width of the whirl chamber arrangement (51) and the flat chamber (21) corresponds approximately to the width of the conveying device (14).
