Abstract (en)
An equalizing tube having an equalizing passage formed therein is inserted in an ink storage chamber such that the front end of the tube communicates with that portion of the ink storage chamber which is located near a pen tip, and the rear end of the tube communicates with the outside. During non-writing, the equalizing passage is made to serve as a feeder and used to compensate expansion/contraction of, for example, air in the ink storage chamber so as to maintain the pressure therein equal to the atmospheric pressure. During writing, a portion near the pen tip is set, using the equalizing passage, under a pressure equal to the atmospheric pressure to prevent the head pressure of ink from being applied to the pen tip. Thus, the head pressure of ink is compensated during writing, thereby applying a constant pressure substantially equal to the atmospheric pressure to the pen tip. Further, expansion/contraction of air, for example, in the ink storage chamber is compensated to maintain the internal pressure of the chamber equal to the atmospheric pressure. <IMAGE>
