[origin: EP1013821A2] The multi-layer woven fourdrinier, for the wet section of a papermaking machine, has wefts (1) at the lower layer which alternate between its running side and the intermediate layer. At the change of direction, they overlap the warps (2) and protect the warps against wear. At the paper side, they run between the woven layers to form an additional buffer against lower layer marking. The warps (2) which are bonded in place at the running side lie under the wefts where they change their direction. The lower layer of the fourdrinier is in a satin or twill weave or an extension/deviation of the woven structure.
