Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0903134A1] The present invention relates to the use of an absorbent material in an absorbent article, such as a breathable sanitary napkin in order to concentrate the absorbed liquid in the central region of the breathable absorbent article. In particular the present invention relates to the use of an absorbent expanding material which upon absorption expands more than the absorbed volume of liquid requires in order to provide additional void volume. In addition the present invention relates to breathable absorbent articles such as baby diapers, adult incontinence products or sanitary articles in which the material of the absorbent core has a better liquid transport capability into the thickness of the article than within the plane of the article. <IMAGE>
