[origin: WO9910091A1] An absorber for absorbing a vapor into a sorbent liquid comprising vertical cylinders (1, 2) forming an annulus which is divided into multiple compartments by partitions consisting of cross-members (7) and perpendicular members (5). Vapor is injected into the bottom portion of each compartment by injection ports (10), resulting in concurrent upflow absorption. The compartments are pressure equalized via equalization ports (10), and may be in thermal contact with a heat exchange compartment (12). Liquid flows through the compartments in a serial pathway through liquid transport passages (4). The absorber may be embodied in geometries other than vertical cylinders.
